Nice spot close to beach and fishing. House was very clean and comfortable. Enjoyed having coffee supplied for our mornings, with a late arrival at night it was appreciated to be able to have a cup of coffee when we woke the next day.
I spotted the new AirBnB Mag yesterday, appropriately enough, at an airport kiosk. When I saw it was the inaugural issue, I had to buy it.
We used AirBnB for travel long before we started hosting (aff) — and from the beginning I’ve loved their vision for travel and hospitality. I wasn’t disappointed by the magazine. It made for great airplane reading and fodder for travel dreaming.
I liked the combination of travel tips and pics of exotic places — but was really impressed with the thoughtfulness of the longer articles.
THERE IS A LOVELY PHRASE FROM NIETZSCHE that says the goal of life is to become who you really are. I think he means we should explore all our possibilities, and there are bits of us, waiting to be discovered, lodged in faraway places. So one can see the impulse to travel as a desire to complete ourselves.
–Alain de Botton, airbnbmag
Airbnb seems to have really touched upon our travel zeitgeist — the desire to experience, do, explore, become. . . to find ourselves at home in the world.

“It was our second stay in the Sleepy Sandpiper and it was like coming home. We love Alexandra´s house and we enjoyed our vacation in this private and quiet location. A few modifications have been done since last year. For us it´s the absolutely perfect place to spend our family holiday and for sure we will come back.”
Wonderful accommodations! Clean, several amenities provided. Perfect for a family or in our case two couples. Communication with Alexandra was excellent. Loved having the laundry on site. Easy walk to beach and ice cream shop! Really enjoyed our stay here.
We loved the Sleepy Sandpiper! Alexandra was the perfect host, thinking of all the little things for a great stay, including beach towels, chairs and kid’s beach toys! Not to mention that her communication was excellent! The home was exactly what we needed – enough space for me and my husband, 2 kids and my parents with room to spare. It’s close to everything and even just a short walk to the beach! Lovely trip and we would so love to come back!
If you love the stage, check out Venice Theatre!
This winter 2016-2017 season brings several plays, musicals, concerts, and comedies! I’m especially looking forward to Billy Elliot and The Christmas Carol.
If you’ll be in the area for awhile, audition for your favorite show! I really love the support for the arts in our area.
One of my favorite beach blogs is Beaches, Bars, and Bungalows. Their reviews of their travels throughout Florida are spot-on.
Take a look at the pics and comments from their review of Casey Key, and get a glimpse of why we love it here. The Sleepy Sandpiper beach house is just a half-mile walk from Nokomis beach!
